Comic #144: Discount Central
Monday, February 22nd, 2010Once I had my shop set up on the sidewalk, the one person who bought more flowers than anyone else from me was the real-life “Chelsea.” She would buy at least one flower — usually multiples, in fact — each and every day once I moved the bench to the front yard. I doubt she was being threatened by my older siblings to do so, but at the time I still had to wonder what had triggered her fascination with my sculptures. Our epic feud was put on hold so she could buy a rose and a few lilies. Go figure.
Also, yes, the bandage on Chelsea’s face is indeed directly related to the previous story. Hooray for continuity!
In other news: I finally put together the official page for the Peter & Company Animation Project. Included on the page are complete details regarding the format and goal for the project (which has changed — also note the absence of the Flipnote Hatena index on the sidebar), as well as a complete listing of all character voices that have been cast so far and those who are still available for auditions. Check it out by clicking on the icon below, or just click here.
Lastly, yet another update was posted to the Chronicles of Ademar blog, this time revolving around costume design. Be sure to give it a look, and feel free to start getting excited: the first issue of Ademar is coming sooner than you might think.
Edit 2-23-2010: I updated the Animation page with the first character voice sample. I will be offering recordings of each individual character to give an idea of how they will sound in the final product. Give them a listen as they are posted and share your thoughts in the comments!
Update 5-12-2010: Been wondering why there hasn’t been an update for Peter & Company in a while?
It’s because crap like THIS keeps happening to me.
A couple days ago I had a full-on seizure that lasted a good ten minutes. On the way to the hospital in the ambulance, suddenly my back and mid-area started building up in gradually increasing pain. I knew the signs even before the diagnosis: once again, I was having an attack of Pancreatitis.
So here I am now as I’m typing this, alone in my hospital bed, two days later, adding “seizure” to my list of recurring health issues that I have to take preventative measures against in the future. I’m still not entirely sure what was the trigger that gave me the seizure — after all, I’m not epileptic and have never had one like this before in my entire life — so I pretty much have to take a number of cautionary steps to narrow down what it MIGHT have been to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Oh, also, according to VA state law, because I had a seizure I am legally prohibited from driving a motor vehicle for six months, but I have quite a few options to get around that road bump so it’s nothing I need to worry about.
That about wraps up this quick explanation. I just wanted to offer the reason why I’m still going to be unable to produce the next page of P&C for at least another week or two. I have no idea how long I will be hospitalized here, so it seems everyone who has asked me about it recently will have to be patient just a little bit longer — unless I can get my fiance to bring me my drawing supplies so I can just draw the dang comic in here, hehe.
I’ll keep you all informed as to what’s going on. Sorry to keep you guys waiting YET AGAIN for another single page update. I know it can be tedious.
For every $30 that is donated overall, a page will be posted in full color!
Current tally: $15.00 Pages Owed: 0

Hehehe, gotta love specialty discounts. Loving this comic, first time realizing I can make a comment. XD
Anyway, looking forward to the next page. :3 Also, do you ever offer commission work?
March 6th, 2010 at 7:41 pm
@Duez: Yes, I do take commission work, but it does depend on what it is and the size of the project. Send me an e-mail if you had something specific in mind and I’ll let you know more details.

I’m sad I couldn’t get any voice samples to ya. Life happens you know. Analytical chemistry and organic chemistry is kicking my butt, and finals coming up in 3 weeks. I hope the animations turn out great!

dude that sucks, i have a co-worker who gets seizures that seems to come on about once a month or so
a few months ago he had 3 in a week

OH MY GOODNESS! That explains things.
And I gotta say, I listened to your voice samples, and I always thought of the worm leader sounding more like a baritone television announcer voice. I wish I could remember the character that had the voice I’m thinking about. But, meh. I’ll get used to what you chose.

New fan, just finished the backlog. <3 Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time of it. Take your time, get lots of rest, and I certainly hope you make it out of the hospital soon.
