Comic #123: I Dream of Whitney
Monday, May 25th, 2009With this page, I would like to officially announce my engagement to Whitney Vest (soon to be Whitney Ponikvar), the wonderful lady who is the basis for the “Whitney” character in the comic. I asked for her hand during a picnic lunch at the Tybee Island beach, during a particularly windy and somewhat chilly day. Then we were attacked by ravenous seagulls and driven back to the car by their scornful cries. Also, before anyone asks, we haven’t set an official date yet as we are waiting until after graduation before setting anything concrete.
So yes, this is the start of the new storyline. I wanted to make this page a bit of a tribute to Winsor McCay’s legendary Little Nemo comic series. If anyone is familiar with his panel layouts and sense of storytelling, you’ll definitely catch the references throughout (particularly with the final open panel). If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go to Google or Wikipedia and look up the series. Or just grab yourself a copy of this book here. You’ll be glad you did.
Also: HA!! “Gutter.” Comic humor.
For every $30 that is donated overall, a page will be posted in full color!

First off… AWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Okay, now that I have gotten that out of the way, I must say I remember watching the Little Nemo movie as a kid and I could see the tribute almost immediately, mostly with the last bar? panel? Well, the part at the end.
