P&C Collectible Cards: More Info

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Hey guys. No comic today since I’m STILL getting beaten down by this horrible flu bug. Seriously, it’s been almost a week now that I’ve been unable to function, and just when it starts to feel like it’s getting better, it gets worse. Just in time for my first classes, too! JOY!!

Anywho, since I wasn’t able to get a comic done for today I thought I would update anyway with my refined idea for the Peter & Company collectible trading cards that I threw down with last week’s post. Here’s a quick rundown of the important stats and a list of all the cards I will be producing (so far):

1. Price: $2.50 for an individual card, or $10 for 5 cards. A bundle will be available for the entire set in one purchase, but I haven’t figured out a good price for it yet since I don’t know if I will be adding more cards to the final set list.

2. Distribution: If you buy an individual card, you will be allowed to pick and choose specifically which card you want from the list. If you choose the 5-pack, you will be sent four random labeled cards and one random ??? card (see the list below for clarification).

3. Product Description: Each card is hand-drawn on watercolor paper and finished with ink wash and watercolors, just like the art in the Chronicles of Ademar (to throw down a comparison of what to expect). On the front of each card is the artwork, while the back is signed, numbered, and includes descriptions and information on the card’s content. Since I’m not mass-producing these through a digital reprinting, it will take a bit of time to make each card. You can expect there to be little differences in the art of same-numbered cards due to human error because I AM NOT A ROBOT!!!! …… also they’re standard trading card size of 2.5″ x 3.5″.

4. Card List:

  • Cast Cards (character art on front, description on back)
    • 1. Peter
    • 2. Seth

So yes, wherever you see a ??? marked in the list is a surprise card. I won’t be publishing what the content of those cards are on any public forums. You’ll only be able to find out by either ordering a 5-pack or ordering a single card and picking one of the ??? numbers. For a bit of guidance I decided to post the categories so you can refine your choosing a bit. I will say that so far, my favorite cards to work on have been 37-40, since they are for characters that may never appear in the actual comic. They only exist to round out the universe and give you a glimpse into other Guardians that are functioning elsewhere in Peter’s world.

Also, cards 30-33 for Seth’s previous children may not actually be the ones that were included in the package he received. I will confirm, though, that none of these cards are his first child. I have special plans for that story to be included in the next book.

I haven’t finished designing each initial card yet, so I am not yet making them available for purchase. They will be soon, though. I will post the images for the first few character cards on my DeviantArt/FurAffinity galleries once they’re done to let you see what they look like.

Oh, lastly, to answer a particular reader’s question: yes, I will be shipping these internationally, but I haven’t worked out how much that will cost yet. Local shipping will be very cheap since these things weigh less than a birthday card.

So yes, pending my actually beating this flu over the coming week, expect new material to be posted next Monday. I’ll keep you all posted on the development of the finalized cards until then.

Cool, the cards are almost all set up. I’ll need to scrape some money together because I really want some.
